Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched e-Chhawani portal in New Delhi. Inauguration of the portal was done in the presence of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat. It will help in improving the ease of living in cantonment board areas.
This new portal will cover more than 20 lakh citizens living in cantt areas and 62 cantonment boards around the country.

Cantonment Boards in India are categorized in 5 commands of army. The commands are as follows:
- Central Command
- Southern Command
- Northern Command
- Eastern Command
- Western Command
All these commands in total covers 62 Cantonment Boards. Every cantonment board have its own website. The link for the websites of respective boards are given on the home page of E-CHHAWANI Portal.

Services under e-Chhawani Portal
E-Chhawani Portal: This new portal will give the people a step towards smart governance in cantonment zones of the country. Here people will get all the municipal services at one place in online mode. One can file grievances online at home. Citizens can register complaints of their civic issues or problems online and the problems will be hopefully solved within 2 to 3 days.
Citizens can apply online for some of the documents related to municipality like trade license, Lease Revewal and Extension, sewerage connectivity etc. Online complaints can also be filed. You can check the status of your complaint here. Voter of the cantt areas are also given on the portal. You can see the wardwise number of voter at present in your cantonment area.
This online redressal of the civic issues related to municipalities will improve the standard of living in cantonment areas like cleanliness of public places, education, public health care, Mobile Toilets, Online Marriage hall booking, Building plan approval, Water bill online service, Birth and Death registration, Swachh Survekshan 2021, Guest House, civil roads, Community Centre, Recreation facilities, electricity supply, water supply in the area, maintenance of hospitals of the cantt area, bus stands, railway station services etc.

You can get every municipality related information on the Cantonment Board website of the respective board. The information available on this portal includes data about Recruitment, RTI, public recruitment, Tenders, Board proceeding, Citizen charter and downloads.

How to register on e-Chhawani Portal
- To register yourself on E-Chhawani Portal, visit the official page of your cantonment Board from below given links.
- Once you visit the official website of respective board, click on Login link on the Home Page.
- Then click on New Registration and register yourself on the portal using your mobile number and other necessary details.
- After getting registered, Login on the portal using your user id and Password received on your registered mobile number.
